Can a tankless water heater, Energy Star to replace a gas heater?
My gas water heater has broken, and I was looking at the new when I saw energy efficient. Can I replace the gas with an electric? The website mentions that they can replace the regular electricity but not mentioned in the form of a gas heater. Any information you could give would be helpful, thanks.
it takes a lot of electrical current to heat the water passing through an electric heater tankless water ... a cable of large caliber were running on their own switch again, and that's assuming that breakers or your service can handle ..... tankless a water heater gas would be better, but probably need a new larger gas line run of the gas meter to the new tankless water heater, are also quite expensive, the end of the day, unless you do it yourself .... I recommend you replace the tank heater age with another tank heater, 10 gallons go bigger, if the former has yet to hold .... tankless only makes sense to me if you have a high demand unusual for a hot water tank cannot play as a big family or a Jacuzzi, etc., or if you have space for a tank heater ........... insofar efficiency, tankless are overrated ... always me "thumbs down" when I say this, but I dare anyone to challenge me on the facts .... Heaters natural gas storage cost only $ 20 - $ 30 per month to run, depending on application .... let $ 30 for this .... example, if a tankless saves 33% of which [the which I doubt can even save that much], that's only $ 10 per month to save for something that costs $ 2000 - $ 2500 installed [unless you do everything yourself] ... a new tank heater 40 liter costs only about $ 600 - $ 750 installed .... true that you need to replace again in 15 years or so while that a tankless is supposed to last indefinitely, but I bet in 15 years the tankless [Guarantee then except the part that contains the water] is likely to need repairs than the total cost of a tank heater again .... remember that you still have to heat the water you are using, the heaters cost of deposit do more to keep the water hot in a tank, the tanks are well insulated, and only a little heat is continually lost through the chimney, for me is not enough to justify the added cost and complexity of a given tankless ........

Looking for Energy Star window air and HEAT unit?
Hi, I am looking for an Energy Star certified window air conditioner with a heater built in. My apt comes with one, but it's an old, loud piece of crap that sucks down electricity. Makes and model numbers please, URLs a bonus!
My current through-the-wall unit is manufactured by Goodman, Co. It has a BTU for cooling rated at 13,600 and a heating BTU of 9,200. It has an EER of 10 and is not Energy Star Certified. My apt is 600 sq ft roughly. I would like a unit that heats and cools, and preferably a window type unit using a standard outlet. Plus it should be Energy Star Certified and be no more than 3 years old. This is a tall order, but I know your answers (made up word) can do it! And by the way, the person who replied "Go to Home Depot", please do everyone a favor and go play in traffic.
Here is a great list of all energy star compliant conditioners that you can also get a rebate from your electricity provider for. Look at the specs for these as these are judged to be some of the lowest energy consuming ones with a good reliability record on the market. This is PG&E which is in California though.
